History

Humble Beginnings

"We started Pruitt Tool & Supply Co. with two thousand dollars, a '56 Chevy, an overshot and a taper tap"

Buddy Pruitt
1919 - 1982

Company founder A. B. "Buddy" Pruitt moved his wife Elsie, and his son Alan
from Gainesville, Texas to Fort Smith, Arkansas back in 1956. They were
followed shortly thereafter by daughter Jane and son-in-law Bob
Williams from Snyder, Texas. This was the beginning of Pruitt Tool
& Supply Company.

Pruitt Tool & Supply Company was the first rental tool and fishing tool company in the Arkoma Basin.

Before the move to Arkansas, Buddy had ruff-necked, drilled and pushed tools
for companies such as Homco and Hunt Oil Tools where he gained a
knowledge of rental tools and became a fishing tool operator.

In the spring of 1967, Buddy along with son-in-law Bob Williams, a Pruitt
Tool & Supply Company employee, took their first steps into the
rotating head business, inventing what would become the "Williams"
rotating head. Pruitt and Williams worked together until 1979.

In the summer of 1979, sighting that the "Williams" head was difficult and
expensive to maintain, Buddy Pruitt built his second rotating head. It
was to become the "Pruitt" rotating head.

Since 1980, Pruitt Tool & Supply Company has manufactured "Pruitt" rotating heads in our fully equipped machine shop.

Pruitt rotating heads have been field tested in most of the major oil and gas
fields in the United States, and are designed for air, mud or gas
drilling.

Pruitt rotating heads come in nipple up sizes from 7 1/16" 3000 to 30" 1000,
but we also offer custom built rotating heads to fit your most
demanding needs.
