Standard Equipment | New Product Information

Over the past few years our research and development department has made some very exciting advancements resulting in two new products: the Pruitt High Pressure Rotating Control Device (RCD) and the Pruitt 9” Sealed Self-Greased Low Pressure RCD. These advancements will ensure a safer work environment and make the equipment more user-friendly.

In August of 2005, we began development of our High Pressure RCD. The patented Pruitt High Pressure RCD has surpassed even our highest expectations. It has been fully tested in a controlled environment at a static pressure of 3100 PSI and a dynamic (rotating) pressure of 2030 PSI. The High Pressure RCD is scheduled for field testing in July of 2009.

One feature of the High Pressure RCD which increases safety and ease of use is the hydraulic clamp system which can be operated from the rig floor. Another safety feature is the High Pressure RCD’s pressure control sensor which will automatically adjust according to the down-hole pressure. In addition, the High Pressure RCD can be run with either a single or dual rubber combo depending on the user’s need.

In November of 2007, Pruitt Tool began developing a new 9” sealed bearing. The life and performance of any RCD is always dependant on maintaining a constant internal lubrication. With the patented new Pruitt 9” Sealed Self-Greased Low Pressure RCD, the necessity of continually oiling the RCD is eliminated as the RCD lubricates itself internally.

Another advantage of the Sealed Self-Greased RCD is its larger nine inch inner diameter which allows larger tool joints to pass through it. This design has been through several successful field tests under various conditions. During the next scheduled test, the RCD will be used with oil based mud.
The Pruitt 9” Sealed Self-Greased RCD is rated for 500 PSI.
